Jewelry Care

Jewelry Care:
To maintain the beauty of your items please remove items before exercising, swimming and showering. Please be sure to avoid contact with harsh chemicals perfumes, lotions, makeup or hair products, as these may damage the layer of metal plating and will cause tarnishing or discoloration. We are currently in the process of removing ALL plated or alloyed materials from our store.

Our stainless steel and gold-filled pieces can get wet. The jewelry has the ability to endure wear and tear. While it usually does not require any cleaning or polishing, you can rinse with mild liquid soap and warm  water if you feel it looks dirty or dull.

Where should I keep my jewelry?
At Hercxlean Jewels we try to be as eco-friendly as possible. All Hercxlean Jewels Jewelry is delivered in a Hercxlean Jewels jewelry box or a Hercxlean Jewels pouch, that is both reusable and recyclable. Please love them and keep your favorites safe in the Hercxlean Jewels packaging provided.

Can I shower with my jewelry on?
We would advise you to remove your jewelry before swimming and showering. It is best not to shower with your jewelry on, however, every once in awhile is okay.
Our surgical steel and gold-filled pieces are completely fine with getting wejt. However, if you have a fresh piercing it is advised that you stay away from chlorinated areas until the healing process is complete.

What materials are used?
All Hercxlean Jewels items are made of individual metals/materials. Please see the product description for further information.

Gold-plated Jewelry:
14k & 18k Gold-plated jewelry describes the electroplating process of depositing a thin layer of 14k or 18K Gold onto the surface of the base metal, such as brass or stainless steel.

Gold-filled Jewelry:
14k & 18K Gold-filled jewelry describes the mechanical process in which a base metal, usually brass, is covered with sheets of gold. It is of much higher quality than gold-plated and will last longer as an end result.

Silver-plated Jewelry:
Silver-plated jewelry describes the electroplating process in which a thin layer of .925 Sterling Silver over a base metal such as stainless steel.

Surgical Steel:

Stainless steel is commonly used as a base metal in the gold and silver plating process that is known for its 'anti-corrosion' characteristics.

Stainless Steel:

While surgical steel is a type of stainless steel, all stainless steels are not surgical steels. Surgical steels are those with the greatest amount of corrosion resistance and are designated for biomedical applications. That is why it is perfect for piercings!

Jewelry Allergies:
The jewelry here at Hercxlean Jewels is hypoallergenic. However, each persons oils make metal react differently, if discoloration occurs it may be due to skin-metal oil reaction. In this case, it is not our responsibility to refund or exchange your item.

Some people can have a sensitivity to some plating, most commonly nickel-plating which is used to color gold and sometimes used in the electroplating process. If you are aware of a jewelry allergy we advise you to choose a hypoallergenic material, and please be aware that it is not our responsibility to refund or exchange your item knowing you have pre-existing allergies or sensitivities.

My jewelry is changing color, what should I do?
For best care, do not shower with your items and avoid getting them wet. Please remove before exercising, swimming and showering. If your items do change color, it can be caused by a metal-to-skin oil reaction. In this case, it's not our responsibility to refund or exchange your item.
